Sero-Prevalence of West Nile Virus in Urban and Peri-Urban Poultry Farms of Guwahati, India

West Nile virus (WNV) is a zoonotic, emerging mosquito-borne which can cause severe disease in the form of encephalitis and acute flaccid paralysis humans. In Assam, northeast India, arboviruses seem to be re-emerging, however, WNV has been little studied. The present investigation was carried out from April, 2018 March, 2019 study sero-positivity chicken urban peri-urban areas Guwahati, capital city Assam. Four four Guwahati were selected. A total 864 serum samples (72 per month) screened by ELISA further confirmed haemagglutination inhibition (HI), revealed that 3.13% chickens had exposed WNV, with 0.69% compared 5.56% peri-urban. Peak sero-prevalence reported during month July August 8.33% each lowest being recorded November (1.39%) no sero-positive birds December April. These results indicate one actively circulating flaviviruses human febrile encephalitic cases should for disease.
